Ms. Gennean - Director, Choreographer & Instructor
A native of Omaha, NE, Gennean Scott has been dancing for over 35 years. Within those years Gennean has traveled the country and islands studying & performing. She has performed at the World’s famous Apollo Theatre, Caesar’s Palace and locally at the Omaha Community Playhouse and the John Beasley Theater, just to name a few. At 12 Gennean became an apprentice Dance Instructor through the Department of Parks and Recreation. By 16, she won Miss Talented Teen International for the state of Nebraska with her winning talent of tap. Through the years Gennean has taken Master Classes from Paula Abdul, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Alvin Ailey and Tap Dogs to name a few. Ms Scott has danced and choreographed for musicians both known and yet to be known :).
Following her dreams Gennean opened and founded I AM Dance School, given reverence to the Great I AM who gave her the gift and vision. I AM Dance, although in its fourth year, has won numerous dance awards at regional and national dance competitions In it’s first year, I AM Dance garnered recognition for a national award through Rainbow Dance. Most recently, 2017 I AM Dance became National Dance Champions!
Ms. Scott participates in various dance workshops across the country. She has served as a judge for local and national dance/talent competitions and has competed and won nationally herself. Ms Scott has taught 100’s of students. Some of her students have gone on to major in dance with dance scholarships, perform in music videos, travel as background singers and dancers, a few have become professional cheerleaders, while others went on to teach at various dance studios or along side of her. Gennean loves to share her gift of dance with the community. Gennean believes that dance is a calling, a gift from God. Her motto: Eat, sleep, dance and repeat, 7 days a week!
Ms. Cortney - Choreographer & Instructor
Cortney Wiresinger, was trained at Creighton University Dance Company in ballet including pointe work, tap, jazz and modern dance from 2001 through 2008 and graduated with a Minor in Dance from Creighton University in 2005. In her seven years with the Creighton Dance Company, Cortney gained experience as a dance soloist and as a member of the chorus as well as attended training intensives in ballet and ballet technique in New York City, NY and Denver, CO. After graduating from Creighton Law School, Cortney continued to dance with the UNO Moving Company from 2008 through 2015 attending modern and contemporary dance technique classes weekly and participating in performances throughout Omaha and even travelling with the the Moving Company to Chicago, Illinois for a special performance. In addition, Cortney, has continued her ballet training by taking weekly classes and teaching instruction seminars with Omaha Academy of Ballet.
Cortney, has held a ballet and modern teaching position at I Am Dance since February 2014. Additionally Cortney, taught children between the ages of 4 and 10 years old beginning ballet classes with the Omaha Arts 4 All program from August 2013-August 2014.
Miss Mimi - Choreographer & Instructor
Born and raised in Omaha, NE, Mimi has been dancing since she could walk. She began competitive dancing and participating in the Omaha Theater Company Ballet (now Ballet Nebraska) at the age of eight. Mimi trained at various studios in the Omaha area such as Omaha Academy of Ballet, The Broadway Connection and Synergy Tech, to name a few. She spent her summers at Kansas City Ballet School and after high school went on to train professionally at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NYC. While in NY, Mimi also trained at Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway with world famous choreographers including Mia Michaels and Laurie Ann Gibson. Eventually, Mimi moved to Los Angeles where she continued dancing in Hollywood at Millennium Dance Complex, International Dance Academy and Debbie Reynolds Dance Studio. She then wound up back in Omaha where she taught company classes and choreographed award winning competition pieces for several studios in Omaha. Today, Mimi is honored to be a member of the I AM Dance family.
Mr Domanic - Choreographer & Instructor
Mr. Domanic began self taught dancing and didn't get a class outside of street and drill team until thirteen years old. He studied Tap, Jazz, African and hip hop inspired movement growing up.
In his career he has danced with celebrity artist such as Lady Gaga. Domanic has trained with many renowned celebrity choreographers such as Richard Jackson, Brian Green, Tricia Miranda and various others while dedicating most summers taking lessons in Los Angeles and New York. He has also taken part in a traveling broadway tour.
Currently he is very active in the dance community locally, here in Omaha. He has been apart of the Moving Company since 2010 where he has grown heavily in the Modern style movement. Also he teaches various styles of movement at South High School with their dance program and dance company, at Benson High School, Jewish Community Center, and Center Stage Dance.
Miss Jessie - Choreographer & Instructor
Miss Jessie has been dancing and performing all of her life. She started dance at the age of two, and grew up dancing and competing! She was the dance team captain at Bennington High School. Miss Jessie participated in community theater with the John Beasley Theater, and she is now and adjudicator for the Nebraska High School Theater Awards. Miss Jessie works for Omaha Performing Arts and sells real estate on the side, along with teaching here at I AM Dance. Miss Jessie teaches the Thursday 3-6 year old class and the Thursday 7-9 year old class. She is one busy lady! We are so lucky to have her here at I AM Dance!
Miss Jessica - Choreographer & Instructor
Jessica was born and raised in Bellevue, Nebraska. Starting dance and gymnastics at a young age, she has always enjoyed and understood the studio and competition way of living. At Creighton, she was apart of the Jays Dance Team and a principal dancer in the Creighton University Dance Company. As a competitive dancer and performer, she understands the balance of passion and competition. Jessica focuses first on technique, then performance. Having taught ages 3-21, she knows that each student is different and learns in their own way. She has choreographed and taught for the Nebraska Distinguished Young Women Program for the past 11 years along with numerous organizations in the Omaha community. Her dance styles include ballet, modern, liturgical, jazz, pointe, and lyrical.
Miss Jenna - Choreographer & Instructor
Jenna was born in Dallas, TX, a place she still considers her "home-away-from-home." She grew up dancing in Omaha, NE, as a young child and hasn't stopped! Jenna has training in ballet, jazz, modern, and tap, with tap being her favorite style. After high school, she attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where she graduated with aBachelor of Arts degree in dance. In her free time, Jenna enjoys watching football and basketball, and hanging out with family and friends. She currently is a member of the Rugged Soles Tap Troupe, teaches hip hop and modern dance at a local studio in Omaha, and is a Measurement Analyst at TPG Telemanagement.
